Solar powered air condition?
Is there any air condition which runs on fully solar panels (electricity).
I am already aware that there are some ac in the market that use partially local and solar panels(electricity) causing 50 percentage saving.
My question is that , are there any air conditioner that run totally on solar electricity.????
The cost of the equipment would not be recovered in the lifetime of the equipment.
How does solar energy create power for us to use?
I mean, how does solar power create electricity and heating? This is for a grade, so I’d appreciate it if you were positive. Please record the websitre or book you used. THANKS!
Begin with the Wikipedia website.
Then look for specifics:
The energy from the Sun gives us light and heat.
The more energetic light photons can be used to knock off electrons from some atoms; the electrons can then flow through wires for electricity (photovolatic cells).
The heat from the sun evaporates water from oceans, forms clouds, rain on mountain sides: brooks, creeks, rivers… The solar energy is "stored" in the water currents as water flows back to the ocean. We intercept it to make turbines run (hydro-electricity).
Plants absorb the energy of Sunlight (chlorophyl). In trees, this becomes fibrous materials which, when buried for thousands of years, become coal. When we burn coal, we "release" the stored solar energy.
Animals eat plants (which, themselves, represent stored solar energy) and, when they are buried for thousands of year, turn to petroleum.
How can I charge a laptop and other electronics from a solar power charged 12 volt car battery?
I live in a village in Africa as a humanitarian aid worker. My only source of power is a 30 volt solar panel. I have it wired into a 3 stage controller and from there into a 12v/150ah car battery. Everything is wired correctly and working. Here is my problem. I would like to be able to take a portable DVD player or my laptop out into the field if possible. Most of my electronic plugs take 110v or higher voltage and have outputs ranging from 9-19v. I do not have an inverter and do not have access to one so that is not an option to increase my voltage. Is there a safe way (for the electronics) to charge them directly from the 12volt battery instead of the factory given plug that requires 110-240v. In your answer consider me ignorant as this is my first foray into solar power and electrical wiring. In short, don’t assume I know anything about electricity in your response. Thank you.
use your lead acid battery as the main charger
1 battery gives you 12v
2 batteries gives you 24v ( connect the battery in series of course)
now how to make the voltage drop to suit your required voltage? use high wattage diodes. One diode drops the voltage by 0.7v. Two in series will give you 1.4v drop.
e.g. your lap requires 19v dc to charge, you connect 7 diodes in series and wire them to the 2 batteries with 24v output total. Final output voltage will be 24-0.7×7=19.1 roughly
You can ask your pal back home to send you 10-20 diodes (low voltage, high current 3A-6A) which only cost a few US cents each..
Your portable DVD also runs on DC, check the DC voltage and adjust the battery voltage by diodes as described above.
Of course the simplest way is to buy the inverter
What kind of solar panel do I need to power a 130W electric motor?
I am building a school project where I need to mix water with an electric motor. This motor needs to be powered by a solar panel. It is a 130W motor. How can I determine the required solar panel?
Thanks!
Interesting question?
How many volts, how many Amps? How often does-it work???
Motors sometimes have high inrush current.
Solar panels are about 2Watt per 50 square inch of surface!
So 130W * 25in2 is about 24 square foot.
Fuel Cells – The Future of Electricity Generation
A fuel cell is a new breed of electric generators which show a promising future in the sciences of renewable energy sources and related fields. A Fuel Cell is basically an electro chemical device that combines Oxygen and Hydrogen to generate electricity with water and heat as by products. This technology holds a great promise to the otherwise worried and alarmed world population which is witnessing a rapid decline the world fossil fuel reserves.
Fuel Cells can operate as long as the fuel is supplied and since it is an electrochemical process, unlike combustion, it is clean, devoid of the sins of exhausting deadly gases, efficient, quiet and lasts longer and operates more efficiently than all other known electric generators.
In the world today, very few power generating technologies can come close to the super-performance a fuel cell is capable of showing. Highly reliable, almost four time more efficient that fuel burning and also cleaner due to the lack of any emissions and also very quiet. Fuel cells can be stacked to meet the power output demands and are very flexible when it comes to the operational regard. Due to the total lack of noise, they do not cause noise or air pollution and since the out put is water and heat, they can be re-utilized for heating purposes.
The very first fuel cell was made in 1839, by Sir William Grove, a Welsh scientist and also a judge. However, fuel cells were not regarded seriously until the early 1960s until some U.S space programs used them in their missions to generate electric power, heat and water, as an alternative to riskier nuclear fuels and the more expensive solar energy that were hitherto in use.
Fuels cells need hydrogen to run. The best part is that they can operate regardless of where the hydrogen is coming from, whether it is coming from pure air, biogas, ethanol or any other source- it really doesn’t matter since a few intermediary processes or a “fuel-reformer” should take care of ‘hydrogen-feed’ problem. Fuel cells have become increasingly flexible and have been reported to have operated with many different kinds of fuels.
Recently, Automobile Car manufacturer, Honda along with some other prominent car manufacturers have introduced fuel-cell powered cars, which is a testimony to the fact that the world is aware and taking notice of a true alternative to our favorite fossil fuels like gasoline and Diesel.

Training and Certification Requirements for Careers in Solar Panel Installation
Training And Certification Requirements For Careers In Solar Panel Installation
If you are looking to enter the field of solar panel installation, you would greatly benefit from being aware of the various training and certification requirements for the job. Obviously, extensive training is crucial if you are to have a certain degree of competency, however, certification is not necessarily an absolute requirement for solar panel installers in most states.
Obtaining certification from recognized solar energy regulatory organizations will likely have the effect of increasing your career opportunities and making your credentials more viable for a green job in the solar energy sector.
It is worth keeping in mind that different states may have different requirements with regard to licensing for solar panel installation professionals. These requirements typically fall under general contractor licenses or their equivalent, with some being more specifically categorized as electrical contractor licenses for PV, plumbing license for solar thermal systems, or solar contractor licenses.
You should also be aware that the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners or NABCEP specifically states that the certification which they offer is in no way intended to take the place of any licenses, credentials or certificates that may be required by local laws in the state wherein you plan to practice your trade. These solar certification and solar training courses are purely voluntary at present, although there is an increasing trend to support these and other similar solar certification programs by way of rebates and other incentives. Furthermore, the number of projects that require solar certification from the NABCEP certification is on the rise, and this will likely increase even further in the near future.
The solar certification program of the NABCEP specifies that solar PV installers should possess the skills and knowledge necessary to recommend solar electrical systems, configure and install these systems, inspect and maintain them in way that meets the customers’ satisfaction, and conform to current industry standards for the performance, safety and reliability of solar electrical systems.
To this end, the NABCEP has developed a system geared towards PV Task Analysis, which is comprised of several areas of discipline, including how to work safely with PV systems, conducting site assessment, the selection of proper solar design, how to adapt the mechanical and electrical design, installation of solar electrical subsystems and components on-site, system check and inspection, and solar electrical system troubleshooting and maintenance.
All of these are of course essential areas of knowledge for those who are seeking qualifications as solar energy industry practitioners. In a report published by the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative in 2003 detailing training and certification requirements for the photovoltaic industry, it stated that the training required for solar industry professionals goes well beyond that which is typical for other areas in the building and construction industries. The report goes on to list some of the training requirements specific to the field of photovoltaic installations, some of which are outlined below:
- On-site evaluation with regard to system performance. This would include determining the effects of obstructions, angles, and so on.
- Characteristics of photovoltaic cells and modules, particularly how they relate to the design and performance of solar electrical systems
- System characteristics calculation–which includes aspects such as wire size–as a means of minimizing power loss and optimizing energy production
- Current wiring methods
- Mounting technology
- Solar electrical system maintenance, as well as diagnostics and troubleshooting methods
- Customer education
Aside from these training requirements, aspiring solar panel installation professionals should also receive instruction in basic electrical skills, possess knowledge of the electrical grid, and be well versed in various roof and ceiling applications.
The installation of solar hot water or pool heating systems has its own requirements with regards to training and certification, for which the NABCEP has also developed a separate task analysis. This analysis is intended specifically for solar thermal applications, and details knowledge and skill sets that are required of professionals in this area of specialization. Among the areas covered by the Solar Thermal Task Analysis of the NABCEP are:
- Safe installation of solar powered hot water and pool heating systems
- Systems and component identification
- System design adaptation
- Effective site assessment methods
- Solar collector installation
- Water heater and storage tank installation
- Piping, insulation and connector installation
- Mechanical and plumbing system and component installation
- Electrical control system installation
- Operation and identification tag installation
- System checkout
- Solar thermal system maintenance and troubleshooting
This set of tasks assumes that the solar thermal system installer utilizes an industry approved solar system design, along with the required components, installation instructions, schematics, and instructions for system assembly and troubleshooting. While the system itself is not necessarily designed by the solar electrical system provider, he or she must possess thorough knowledge about all aspects of the system, and in some cases may be called upon to modify the design depending on the application or customer requirement.

Is there such thing as a solar powered air conditioner? If so, how do you get one?
If there was such thing as a solar powered air conditioner how can you get one and how much? Think of how much electricity that would save! Especially in the summer when it gets really hot and lots of people waste so much energy and power just to cool down their whole house. Is there anything that can explain how this can be done?
*****deleting this:Yeah, solar power doesn’t give enough energy to make it work it. You would waste more money on a roof full of panels just to power that one A/C.****

can solar power panels installed at home provide enough electricity to power house hold appliances?
can solar power panels installed at home provide enough electricity to power house hold appliainces and heat water.
They can but it takes a lot of panels. A home averages about 1 kw power. Peak power is higher (3-6 kw) but you can handle that with load leveling storage batteries.
The total maximum solar flux is about 1 kw/square yard (or square meter). Solar panels are around 10% efficient. Because the Sun travels across the sky, the overall power is about 1/2 this maximum but then ony during the day (1/2 the time). Since you need to recharge your batteries for nighttime, etc. and battery charging is about 50% you lose abother factor of two.
So, assuming the Sun shines every day, you can power your house on 80 square yards (700 square feet of solar panels). This is still very rare because the investment in solar panels, batteries, converters, etc. far outweighs what you spend for commercial electricity.
